Capt Vibhas Garg

Director, Octain Marine Pte Ltd, Singapore (NMSSC Member and Co-Chair of MPA-SSA SAFENAV Work Group)

After a sailing career spanning two decades, Capt Garg stepped ashore in 2000 to work for World-Wide Shipping in Singapore, which later merged with Bergesen Norway to become BW Shipping. Capt Garg rose to the position of Vice President in the BW Group and was managing their tanker fleet from Singapore till 2018. He then worked in Safety leadership roles for ship managers like Anglo-Eastern and Wallem till 2023 when he started his own consultancy business in Octant Marine Singapore. Octant provides expertise with Marine incidents and claims.

Capt Garg co-chairs the Safety of Navigation Work Group for MPA which is involved in various initiatives to improve navigational safety around the regional hub. He is also a member of the National Maritime Safety at Sea Council, the safety advisory body to MPA Singapore.
