Captain Sanjay Patil has a comprehensive career in marine safety and operations. He is currently the Advisor HSSEQA at MISC Marine. Previously, as Deputy Director of HSE Operations he led Eaglestar’s HSSE objectives, including simplifying the Safety Management System. Since December 2020, Captain Patil has participated in various industry platforms, such as INTERTANKO Committees, MPA-SSA Safety of Navigation work group and Singapore Chemical Industry Council work group on Ammonia Bunkering, and has presented at industry safety panels. From January 2011 to November 2020, he was Head of CRM, Europe.

During this time, he presented at IMO on casualty investigations, participated in the EU project on safety, and interacted with industry. He was also a member of OCIMF / INTERTANKO Steering Committees on crew competency and accident analysis. Earlier, from 2003 to 2010, he held various management positions overseeing different tanker types. He has sailing experience on products, chemical, and gas tankers, advancing from Junior Officer to Master.
