Capt Mohamad Salleh bin Ahmad Sarwan

Capt Mohd Salleh Ahmad Sarwan is a Master Mariner, maritime leader, and educator with close to 50 years of experience at sea and ashore. After 14 years with Neptune Shipmanagement Services, where he progressed from Deck Cadet to Ship’s Master, he joined Singapore Maritime Academy (SMA), Singapore Polytechnic, in 1992.
As Director of SMA (2015–2023), he spearheaded digital transformation in maritime education through AI, VR/AR, immersive learning, and applied research. He now serves as Senior Lecturer and Specialist in Navigation and Shiphandling, leading initiatives in maritime sustainability, bunkering safety, and international collaboration.
Capt Salleh contributes to the IMO STCW Comprehensive Review, Singapore’s Technical References for Methanol and Ammonia Bunkering, and national maritime decarbonisation initiatives. His contributions have been recognised with the Public Administration Medal (Silver), Distinguished Teacher Award, and the Honorary Fellowship from the University of Plymouth (2023). He remains committed to developing future-ready maritime professionals and advancing safe, sustainable maritime practices.
